Diwali celebration with the elderly — A heartwarming initiative by COMHAD at Panchavati Old Age Home, october 2025
Nagpur – Diwali was celebrated with joy at Panchavati Old Age Home on Umred Road, run by Matru Seva Sangh. As part of this special initiative by COMHAD, festive Diwali snacks were distributed to the elderly residents, and warm conversations were shared to create moments of happiness. This thoughtful gesture helped bring a sense of belonging and togetherness to senior citizens who often celebrate the festival in solitude.
Present on the occasion were Executive Director, COMHAD UK Dr. Uday Bodhankar, Honorary Secretary, COMHAD Dr. Prajakta Kaduskar, Treasurer, COMHAD Dr. Kamlakar Deoghare, newly appointed President of Maharashtra IMA Dr. Manjusha Giri, Principal, Occupational Therapy School, Government Medical College, Nagpur Dr. Sofia Azad, Niyog Therapist Dr. Pravin Dabli, and Director of Panchavati Old Age Home Tike kar Kaku.
The initiative beautifully conveyed respect and affection towards senior citizens, spreading the festive spirit and touching everyone’s hearts.
Diwali celebration with the inmates of Ashokvan and Shraddhavan of Shri Baba Amte at Jamtha, Nagpur. 20th October 2025
A heartwarming initiative by COMHAD at Ashokvan an Old Age care Home and Shraddhavan a centre for patients needing Psychiatric help – on 20th October, Diwali was celebrated with difference. As a part of this special initiative by COMHAD, festive Diwali snacks were distributed to the elderly residents and inmates of Shraddhavan.

Diwali Celebrated with Needy Girls and Children from an Orphanage Nagpur on Sunday 26th October.
This year, Diwali was celebrated in a special way in the courtyard of the ancient Shri Shiv Temple located on Kamthi Road, South East Central Railway Colony. A Diwali Milan was organized with needy girls and children from an orphanage. This inspiring event was held under the joint auspices of the Shiv Mandir Diwali Milan Organizing Committee and COMHED (UK). On this occasion, many dignitaries including Divisional Railway Manager of South East Central Railway Deepak Kumar Gupta, Dr. Nirmala Gupta, MLA of North Nagpur and former Cabinet Minister Dr. Nitin Raut, Sumedha Nitin Raut, newly appointed President of Indian Medical Council Maharashtra Dr. Manjusha Giri, Dr. Kamalakar Deoghare Treasurer COMHAD, CMD Sardar Navneet Singh Tuli of Gurunanak Institute, Nagesh Sahare, Shri Advani, Vishwajit De Dada, Niyoga Therapist Vijay Gupte, Bandu Tembhurne, Naturopathy and Yoga Therapist Dr. Praveen Dabli, C. Prakashrao, P. Satyarao and Rinku Sharma were present. The guests were welcomed by Pt. Krishna Murali Pandey by presenting them shawls and coconuts. At the event, the organizing committee presented football kits—consisting of T-shirts, shorts, socks, bags, and sweets—to 40 needy girls from Pragatiik Secondary and Higher Secondary School, Vidyut Vihar, Koradi. Jeans, shirts, underwear, towels, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, sheets, and school bags were provided to 25 children from Samata Orphanage, Uppalwadi, Nagpur.
Boxes of sweets were also distributed to all the children by COMHAD. The girls' faces glowed with smiles and excitement upon receiving these gifts. On this occasion, MLA Dr. Nitin Raut, while wishing the children, urged them to excel in sports along with education and bring glory to their parents and society. He described such events as a beautiful example of social responsibility. Divisional Railway Manager Deepak Kumar Gupta said that celebrating Diwali with children truly feels like a celebration. The temple committee's annual organization of such events is commendable and inspiring. Dr. Nirmala Gupta said that children are our family, and the joy of Diwali is doubled with family. She encouraged the children to study diligently and achieve well in life. Dr. Manjusha Giri said that every child should set a goal in life and continuously strive towards it. She said that without a goal, life becomes directionless. Yoga and naturopathy expert Dr. Praveen Dabli explained the importance of yoga, pranayama, and meditation to the children, saying that practicing them keeps both the body and mind healthy. He encouraged the children to foster a spirit of helping themselves and those in need in society. At the end of the program, all the guests and attendees wished each other a Happy Diwali. C. Prakash Rao, P. Satyarao, Premlal Yadav, Ganesh Kotulwar, Manish Naidu, Ramesh Patnaik, Dipankar Paul, Vilas Khode, C. Rajgopal, and the women's committee members made special contributions to the success of the program. Dr. Praveen Dabli conducted the stage, while Prakash Rao (Gundu Rao) proposed the vote of thanks. The evening, filled with lights, smiles, and affection, was a memorable one for the children—a celebration not just of light, but of connecting hearts.
